Brandi Lewin, a leader with a heart for community, has been at the forefront of empowering vulnerable populations since 1999. With a background in real estate and experience in fostering and caring for youth, Brandi has also focused on individuals with developmental disabilities since 2010. Under her leadership, Murdock Community and Care Services, Inc. has grown into a beacon of hope and support for many families in Southern California. Murdock Community and Care Services, Inc. exists to create inclusive, accessible, and affirming spaces where individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities—and the families who love them—can thrive. During 2025–2026, the organization experienced transformative growth marked by expanded programming, civic advocacy, leadership development, and measurable community impact.

Inclusive Programming |
Murdock Community offers inclusive recreational activities including pickleball, dance, arts & crafts, and
boxing, along with regular community outings that foster belonging, social connection, and life skills. |
Community Advocacy |
Through resident engagement and collaboration with city leadership, Murdock Community advocated for a Quality Grocery Store in the City of Carson. This effort contributed to the city welcoming a Sprouts Farmers Market, increasing access to healthy food options.

Disabilities Commission – City of Carson |
In collaboration with Luz Padua, Murdock Community helped establish the City of Carson Disabilities Commission, ensuring individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities have representation, advocacy, and access within city governance.

Strategic Partnerships |
The organization partnered with counseling providers to support students, families, and participants, collaborated with other nonprofits for shared growth, and secured grant funding through Supervisor Holly Mitchell’s Office.

Consulting & Regional Influence |
As a result of sustained advocacy, Murdock Community’s founder was engaged as a consultant on the University & Central project in partnership with the City of Carson.

Family & Holiday Impact |
During the holiday season, Murdock Community adopted and supported 53 children from single-parent families, providing gifts, resources, and encouragement.

Priorities for 2026 include expanding outings, strengthening partnerships, increasing funding, deepening advocacy, and continuing to scale inclusive programming.
